Let’s talk about psychology

Today I want to begin writing about something new on this blog. I want to write about psychology. I’ll tell you why. I have graduated my uni and now I am a psychologist, but unfortunately, I did not find a job that is somehow related to that. So I was thinking and I have decided to write about psychology and therefore I won’t forget anything and I’ll learn new things.

Of course, I will write about things that I find interesting or things I just want to share with you. And I will try to do it in a way that everyone can understand. This will not only be my opinions but some theories and studies as well. Also, at the end, I will be posting articles and books I used so if you’d be interested you can check them out. Or there will be just links.

What is psychology?

Psychology is „the science of behavior and mind, including conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope and diverse interests that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest. As a social science, it aims to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases.” (Wikipedia)

I think I will be writing a lot about positive psychology because I just love it. What it is? You may ask. Well, positive psychology is „the scientific study of human flourishing and an applied approach to optimal functioning. It has also been defined as the study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals, communities and organizations to thrive” (Gable & Haidt, 2005, Sheldon & King, 2001: Taken from here)

Let me know what do you think about this idea? And also, let me know if there is something you would love to read about?
